On our trip down memory lane (see two blogs ago) I saw this sign taped up in the gymnasium. Several copies of this mantra were taped around the tiled gym walls.

I wondered no longer why the school had no award/trophy cabinet in the hallway displaying tall gold-painted plastic pillars with basketball, football, soccer and wrestling athletes atop with the school name and year proudly etched on the thin metal plate on the front.

Wonder no longer.

The school wasn't pushing winning, but having fun. If you have fun then you are a winner.

What rot!

What parallel universe did this group of teachers live in?

Think what you will, it is in the winning that the most fun is experienced.

And that's what I think about it.
