Six thirty breakfast gift exchange this morning. This is where we exchange names and then buy toys that remind us of the person whose name we received.

For example, a doctor kit was given to....no surprise, the doctor in the group. A china tea set and working toy microwave to the one with a great gift of hospitality. A couple women in the group received Princess dress-up accessories, complete with tiara, earrings and necklace. (I'm not even going there to explain the 'why.')

I received a castle set where kids learn their shapes. An educational toy because...well, that's what my friends think of me, studying a lot and therefore by extension, knowing a lot. The analogy falls away in there someplace. Our musicians received keyboards and an Elmo sing-along doll. Bling dominoes and Bingo games were opened. Paint pens and drawing paper given to the recent Fine Arts graduate.

Children and youth underwear for a local charity was also purchased. Socks, panties, even hats and gloves were collected.

A great breakfast brunch with good friends was enjoyed. Afterward, gifts were delivered and we all went home empty-handed and full-hearted.

And that's what I'm thinking about today.
