"Men Who Stare at Goats" is a schizophrenic movie with not enough goats in it to justify the title. The plot is thin, as are the characters. Scenes jump from present to past, which can be a useful tool in movie making. In "Goats" there are four distinct characters whose pasts are reviewed separately and that adds up to five story lines. It depicts the military as morons and buffoons...judgment delayed...and one is never really sure who, if there are any, are the sympathetic characters.
The good news is that the goats, for what little screen time they got, are darling and the movie stars George Clooney so all is forgiven: plot, photography and script.
The popcorn was especially good this afternoon. And that's what I think about it.
