Random ponderings
We are deep into football season. This year I am ready for it to be over. First, Ohio State had a dismal season. Then, Penn State....well, why go into it. Then the Indianapolis Colts gave no one exciting NFL action. In fact, their win-loss ration was worse than the Cleveland Browns'.
So, randomly, I jot other notings.
The house is beautifully decorated in blues, silver and white. Bowls of ornaments reflect off mirrors an every flat surface. It's a good look.
Not so much the kitchen. My husband, while I was out of town for a few days, found, at the local WalMart, a three-foot fiber-optic tree. His first thought was to put it on the front porch but it proved too short to show up at the street. It also was not manufactured for outside use. So, when I returned home it was sitting proudly on the kitchen counter, its tiny branches turning pink, blue and green over over and over....and over. I stuck some blue and silver on and in it and placed it toward the wall.
On another note, the great State of Indiana has given me (for $21) a license to drive for the next seven years, until 2018. If you think that through to its natural conclusion you will go out of your way to stay off the Indiana roads.
On another random note, my birthday revealed another side to me. One day after the celebration, I was sitting at home wearing my plastic Happy Birthday crown in jeans and a stripped T-shirt. I got chilled. I put on heavy brown wool socks. Still cold. I put on a pink corduroy over shirt. Then layered that with a stripped blue and grey scarf. When that didn't do it, I added a quilted blue vest. As I passed the mirror in the hallway I marveled at how many different styles and colors I was wearing. I reminded myself of the Maxine cartoons.
Switch gears: during a cold rain we got a call that two grand daughters' car would not start. They were in the high school parking lot. With jumper cables in our trunk, we drove over and while they, and I, were warm in the car, my long-suffering husband jumped their car and drove it to their house. Then the four of us celebrated at Steak 'n Shake. Privately my husband told me he thought they had either left the lights on or a door ajar. Yesterday my husband called me from the grocery store parking lot. He needed a jump on his car. Apparently he had either left the lights on or a door ajar. I did not ask which.
I am in the midst of reading and writing for my next graduate course which will be held the first week in January, 2012. That is my only excuse for my blog neglect of the past two months. I can't promise it will get better. I can't promise the posts will be more interesting. My life, although it doesn't suck, is very uni-dimensional right now. I don't like it particularly but that is the way it is.
And that's what I think about it.
